"A World of Sound" – An Organ Concert for Physicists performed by dr. Laurence Rogers will be held in Church of St. Stanisław Kostka in Debniki.
Dr. Laurence Rogers has led a dual career as a science teacher and church musician. He holds degrees in physics, electronics and education and has taught physics and science in several secondary schools in England. In 2006 he retired as Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Leicester where, for many years as a teacher trainer and science education researcher, he pioneered the application of computers in education. He has been a regular contributor to GIREP conferences and seminars since the Ljubljana conference in 1996. His organ studies began as a choirboy at St. John\'s Church in the seaside town of Boscombe on the south coast of England. They continued through university at Nottingham and later with Professor Nicholas Danby at the Guildhall School of Music, London. His first parish post was as Organist and Choirmaster at Great Waltham Parish Church, Essex. He later moved to the Midlands, where he held a similar post at Melbourne Parish Church, Derbyshire, from 1975 to 2002. In so-called retirement he regularly presents ICT workshops for science teachers, organ workshops for primary school children and occasional recital programmes. He has also travelled extensively in Europe playing organs in France, Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark.
