Currency: Polish złoty (zł, PLN)

In Poland we are used to exchange money not in the banks where the provision is quite high, but in Currency Exchange places, named Kantor. In every street in the City Center you will find at least one Kantor. In particular, in Sławkowska Street, where we start GIREP Seminar 2016 on Tuesday, at least five such places are located. They are usually open from 9:00 to 19:00, also during the weekend. Please notice that only notes can be exchanged.

The current exchange rates are (27th August 2016):

  • 1 EUR = 4,30 PLN
  • 1 USD = 3,82 PLN
  • 1 GBP = 5,06 PLN
  • 1 CHF = 3,95 PLN

The rates may vary by up to 0,15 PLN, depending on a seller. The highest differences are expected at the airport.

The conference fee covers all lunches (31st August – 3rd September) and coffee break refreshments (30th August – 3rd September) during the day as well as the welcome reception (30th August) and the banquet (1st September). This applies to both, participants and accompanying persons.

Please notice that since the Seminar starts in the afternoon, lunch is not provided on the 30th of August. On that day you can choose one of plenty of small bars and restaurants available in the City Center, in particular, in Sławkowska Street.

During registration all participants will be provided with maps of the City Center and a practical guide to restaurants and bars.

Public transport: one ride cost is 3.80 zł

The tickets are available from the ticket machines in most of the trams and buses. You may also buy them at the bus driver or in the stationary machines at the bus or tram stops.

Most of people in Kraków (especially young) can communicate in English. Please do not hesitate to ask people, even in the street, if you have any problem.
